Your dog/puppy will live with us in our climate controlled facility, pictured above, with our family, on our 5-acre property. Each dog will receive their very own customized training to best suit their individual needs and personalities. You will get video updates every few days showing their progress.

Your dog will go on numerous walks every day and interact safely with other board and train canine students. They will go on field trips to restaurants, shopping centers, dog parks (exterior only), Home Depot, etc. In short, we prepare your dog for the real world which includes how to behave both in and outside your home.

As part of the 3 week program, we provide one ( 1 )  and as part of the 5 week program, we provide two (2) intensive private one-on-one lessons with you, your family, and your now well-behaved dog to teach you how to easily maintain their excellent behavior for life. This training is usually conducted at your home where we will spend 2-3 hours going over everything with you and your family.

Focus/Attention:

Our attention-getting exercise teaches each dog to focus on their owner/handler. The “watch” command directs the dog to look at you in your eyes. This lays the foundation for everything else you will ever request of your dog. Only if your dog is paying attention to you can you expect him/her to perform a command within their ability.

Leash Manners and Walking:

This is often a concern of many dog owners. This teaches dogs to walk properly and confidently both on and off-leash preventing unwanted pulling, jerking, or roaming away from the owner. Teaching dogs not to jump up on the owner or on other people is also covered during this training.

Sit/Sit Stay:

Dogs are trained to sit quickly on the first command and must stay until released or asked to perform another task.

Down/Down Stay:

Dogs are trained to lie down quickly on the first command and must stay until released or asked to perform another task.

Come/Here:

The dog must come running to you and sit directly in front of the owner/handler or in heel position when given the command to do so. The dog must stay sitting next to the handler until released or asked to perform another task. Heel: The dog will walk on the left side of the owner/handler and turn, or change pace, as needed to stay next to the owner/handler while on-leash or off-leash with e-collar. The dog will stop and sit when the handler comes to halt.

Free/Release:

Everything that has a beginning must have an end. That is why each dog is trained to the "FREE" or release command. When the dog has completed an exercise or is allowed to roam free or come off place board, he/she is given the release command and may move around freely but not pull or jerk on the leash or run off away from the owner. Place: The dog is trained to go onto a place board or mat and remain there until released. This is very helpful when someone unexpectedly arrives at your door, or you have guests come inside your house. Simply point to the mat and tell your dog “place”. Going on a picnic, vacation, or friend’s house? Take your dog’s mat with you and he/she will understand to stay on their “place” until released. This is one of the most valuable training tools and commands we teach.

Inside/Kennel:

On command, your dog will go into their kennel immediately and will no longer fight or refuse to go inside. Your dog will stay in their kennel until released even with the door of the kennel open. Manners: While your dog or puppy stays with us in our family home environment, we will eliminate bad behaviors such as jumping on people, jumping up on doors, eating food off tables/countertops, and other items of concern as specified by our clients/owners. We also teach the dogs to stop and wait at all doorways and thresholds until given the command to proceed. Environment/Distraction Proofing: Each command is trained in a controlled environment with positive methods until the dog clearly understands what is expected of them. We gradually introduce environmental distractions, while increasing distance and duration, utilizing leash and e-collar pressure to ensure they will perform reliably in the presence of people, traffic, dogs, cats, etc. We are balanced trainers and are only able to offer our behavior guarantee because we underscore all our positive training methods with the necessary rules, boundaries, structure, discipline and corrections as needed to provide you with the reliability needed to enjoy a well behaved and obedient dog no matter where you are or what’s happening around you.
